But it took a bunch of rather stressful hours of thrashing about before I got it done. Running Help/Update from this new installation worked properly, got me to 6.14, and my LR6 catalog (with the custom print templates I've created for my Canon printers) was all there. Still, if I had to do it over again I think I'd copy the catalog, just in case.) THEN I reinstalled LR6 from the Adobe download file, which set up LR 6.0. (I had made a new backup copy of the catalog before I started the initial update, although I don't think that was actually necessary. What I eventually had to do was to first uninstall LR6 completely. Reinstalling LR from the file I downloaded from Adobe wouldn't get me an updatable product. Rebooting the computer and trying the update again didn't help. WTF?*#! Manual updating with the 6.14 file downloaded from Adobe also failed. (I'm in the midst of a Christmas printing project that includes raw images that need 6.12 to decipher, so I was pretty much shut down by this.) Clicking Help/Updates reported that my software was up to date.

The update failed, with the same error message, AND my LR installation was reverted to 6.0. I had the same problem - and error message - earlier this week trying to update 6.12 to 6.14.
